Yvonne Kunz was born in Great Falls, Montana, but moved frequently as a military child. This nomadic early life, coupled with her experience as an art educator, has profoundly shaped the narrative of her art by examining the nature of personal connection. Yvonne has been awarded fellowships at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Mt. San Angelo, VA and grants from the Montana Arts Council and Myrna Loy Center, Helena, MT. Most recently, she received the Self-Directed Art Project grant from ArtsWA’s Wellness, Art, and Military program in 2023.
Over the past 20+ years, Yvonne has exhibited nationally. Notable galleries include the Women Made Center, Chicago; Holter Art Museum, Helena, Mt; Gallery 110 and Columbia City Gallery, Seattle, WA;and the Center for Contemporary Art, Seattle, WA. Yvonne received her B.A in Visual Arts from the University of Washington and a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with K-12 Art Education certification from Montana State University. She currently lives and works in Olympia, Washington.
