2020

In January of 2020, I started a project that I called Material Drawings. The goal was to create 100 drawings during the year of 2020. I called them Material Drawings as they were intended to be a practice to explore various artistic materials as well as thematic materials for larger paintings and drawings. Little did I know in January, that the project of 100 drawings would be a life ring in the tumultuous waters of 2020: pandemic, racial strife, lock down, uncertainty and anxiety. The Material Drawings became a project of processing, healing, and hoping.
